Project overview

Aurora Labs had built something genuinely novel and could not get anybody outside the industry to understand it quickly. Their existing material opened with architecture diagrams. The brief was a film that made the purpose obvious in the first fifteen seconds and left viewers with a clear sense of why the company exists.

Creative approach

We opened on the problem rather than the product. The script established a situation the audience already recognised, then showed the technology arriving inside it. Interviews with the founding team supplied authenticity; grading and sound design carried the tone.

Production process

1. Pre-production

Two weeks of message alignment, then a script, a shot list and interview questions signed off before any booking was made.

2. Production

Three days: a studio day for interviews, a day in the engineering space, and a day of contextual b-roll with a small crew.

3. Post-production

Structure first, then sound design, voiceover, grade and a light motion-graphics pass for the two ideas that needed diagramming.

4. Delivery

A ninety-second hero cut, a thirty for paid, and six vertical fragments, all delivered with captions and a clean-audio master.

Challenges

The central difficulty was reducing genuinely technical language without making the company sound less serious than it is. We tested three versions of the opening sixty seconds with people outside the sector and kept the one they could paraphrase back.

Outcomes

The film became the opening asset in pitch meetings and the top of the company's site. The team reported that first conversations now start from what the product does rather than from what it is.
