Product Videos Matter
A product page can describe a thing. A product video can show somebody using it, which is the question most buyers are actually asking: what is this like to hold, to open, to live with.
Show scale before you show features
The most common failure in product footage is that nothing establishes how big the object is. A hand, a desk, a familiar object beside it — one shot solves a confusion that no amount of specification copy will.
Order the demonstration by doubt
List the reasons somebody hesitates, then answer them in that order. That is almost never the order the product team would choose, and it is almost always the order that keeps people watching.

“People do not abandon a product video because it is too long. They abandon it because it stopped answering their question.”
The three cuts worth making
- A fifteen-second version for paid placement
- A sixty-second version for the product page
- A three-minute version for support and onboarding
Watch where people leave
Retention graphs are unusually honest about product videos. A cliff at eight seconds is a hook problem; a slow bleed through the middle is a pacing problem; a drop at the price is not a video problem at all.
